Terms of Service

To use MoveOn, you must:

• Be currently enrolled at a participating college or university
• Have a valid institutional email address (.edu) issued by that institution
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Agree to and comply with these Terms

By registering, you represent and warrant that you meet all of the above requirements.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You may not share your account, transfer it to another person, or allow others to access the platform under your credentials. You must provide accurate and up-to-date information at registration.

Notify us immediately at hello@campusmoveon.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

MoveOn is a platform where verified students can list items they no longer need and claim items listed by others — all at no charge. Every item exchanged through MoveOn is free. No payment of any kind is permitted between users for items listed on the platform.

MoveOn is an independent service and is not an official product or service of any university. University partnership is for sustainability promotion only. Universities do not manage accounts, data, or disputes.

By posting a listing, you represent and warrant that:

• You own the item or have the legal right to give it away
• The item is legal to transfer in your jurisdiction
• Your description and photos accurately represent the item's condition
• The item is not stolen, counterfeit, hazardous, subject to recall, or otherwise unsafe

You may not list any of the following:

• Firearms, ammunition, or weapons of any kind
• Controlled substances, illegal drugs, or drug paraphernalia
• Alcohol or tobacco products
• Prescription medications
• Stolen, counterfeit, or fraudulently obtained goods
• Hazardous materials or recalled products
• Animals or living organisms
• Adult or sexually explicit content
• Anything otherwise illegal under applicable federal, state, or local law

You may not:

• Use MoveOn for commercial purposes, resale, or business activity
• Demand, accept, or solicit payment for listed items in any form
• Harass, threaten, impersonate, or discriminate against other users
• Create multiple accounts or register under a false identity
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract content from the platform
• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings
• Interfere with or disrupt the platform or its infrastructure

MoveOn is a platform only. We are not a party to any exchange between users and have no control over the condition, safety, legality, or fitness for purpose of any item listed. We do not guarantee that exchanges will be completed or that items will be as described.

You agree to arrange pickups in safe, public, well-lit locations on or near campus. MoveOn is not responsible for any injury, loss, damage, or dispute arising from an item exchange or failure to complete one.

MoveOn awards impact points for certain platform activity. You acknowledge that:

• Points have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash
• Points are non-transferable between accounts
• Points may be redeemed only for eligible partner perks at participating campuses
• Perk availability is subject to change without notice
• MoveOn is not liable if a partner discontinues, modifies, or denies a perk
• We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the points program at any time

You retain ownership of content you post on MoveOn, including listing titles, descriptions, and photos. By posting content, you grant MoveOn a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating the platform and promoting the service to other students.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be inappropriate, harmful, or illegal.

The MoveOn name, logo, platform design, and software are owned by MoveOn and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on our platform or brand without our prior written consent.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MOVEON DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MOVEON SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR ECONOMIC LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM OR ANY ITEM EXCHANGED THROUGH IT, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00).

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MoveOn and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the platform, your listings, your item exchanges, or your violation of these Terms.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of MoveOn will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, not in court. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court as an alternative to arbitration, provided the claim qualifies.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion. You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately. Sections 9–14 survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

We may update these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the new Terms take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
